With over two decades of experience in family law, today Lina’s practice focuses on complex divorces, involving high-net-worth clients. In order to best serve her client’s needs, Lina collaborates with a variety of experts, including real estate appraisers, vocational evaluators, trust and estate experts, and in particular, forensic teams that help value sophisticated assets, including commercial real estate holdings, venture capital, intellectual property, and privately held business interests.
Lina has extensive experience representing clients in various areas of family law, including: Division of Community Property, Spousal Support Matters, Mediation, Post-judgment Modifications, Date of Separation Analysis, and International Issues. Lina also consults, reviews, negotiates, and drafts marital agreements and relationship contracts, including prenuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, and transmutation agreements.
Lina has been trained and certified as a mediator through the prestigious Center for Understanding in Conflict with Gary Friedman. She is a member of the Collaborative Practice of Golden Gate group, and has received training in collaborative divorce. She regularly acts as a consulting attorney for clients going through mediation to resolve their divorce cases.
In working with individuals experiencing one of the most difficult periods of their lives, Lina treats each client with empathy and strives to build trust. She identifies strategic solutions tailored to each client’s situation. Lina is an advocate trained to protect her client’s rights, but recognizes the overwhelming benefits to mediation or collaborative divorce. Settling a case outside of the public courthouse is almost always the best outcome for divorcing clients.
Lina is also passionate about writing. She is the author of “Divorce & Money: How to Make the Best Financial Decisions During Your Divorce,” and numerous family law articles featured on Nolo.com and Divorcenet.com. She has been quoted by the media for her expertise in family law, including the New York Times and CNN, which is a testament to her recognition in the field.
Lina enjoys volunteering with Bay Area organizations and was honored by Marquis Who’s Who for her commitment to pro bono services and dedication to family law.
When she’s not working, you can find her fostering young animals through the Marin Humane Society as they wait to be adopted and taking road trips along the Pacific Coast with her family.
